TAKE A STROLL THROUGH THESE 4 PALM BEACH FARMERS MARKETS
Although nowadays local supermarkets are stocked with any type of food you could want, most people still get a special feeling when they get produce directly from the people who grow them. This is why farmers markets are popular, as more and more people want to be sure they’ll be getting organic and locally-grown food. Here are the best places to get fresh fruit and vegetables, in or around Palm Beach, Florida.
WEST PALM BEACH GREENMARKET
This charming farmers market is the brainchild of former Mayor Nancy Graham, who came up with the idea after visiting similar places throughout Europe. Her vision was of a place where people not only had the chance to buy fresh and locally-grown produce but also met with friends and neighbors. Her idea came to fruition in 1995, when she opened Palm Beach’s first farmers market. It only featured 13 vendors and was located in the parking lot of the old City hall building, but it was a total hit with the locals and still is to this day.
Over the years, its popularity meant that the West Palm Beach GreenMarket kept on growing. Nowadays they use a rigorous selection process to ensure that only the finest vendors in South Florida get through. They also sell more than fruit and vegetables, expanding to flowers and even donuts and cheese.
JUPITER GREEN & ARTISAN MARKET
Located in Jupiter, this market is open every Sunday all year round, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s located under the Indiantown Road Bridge, which is a good way to keep the people and produce safe from the hot sun or heavy rain. It features a unique variety of vendors, from produce vendors with fresh locally-grown fruit and vegetables to artisans, bakers, jewelers, and many more. Its gorgeous location also makes this market a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon with loved ones.
ROYAL PALM BEACH MARKET AND BAZAAR
This farmers market hasn’t been around for long, having been opened in 2013. However, this charming place located in Veterans Park on Royal Palm Beach Boulevard quickly established itself as one of the most popular and appreciated markets around. It will be open every Saturday from October 19 until late April 2020. Besides fruit and vegetables, shoppers can also find flowers, spices, honey, as well as their signature cider donuts. Local artisans are also present, selling everything from pastries to jewelry, much to the delight of residents and tourists.
PALM BEACH GARDENS GREENMARKET
Open in 2011, this farmers market has quickly established itself on the local scene. It’s open every Sunday from May to October and features over 45 different vendors that sell anything from produce to flowers, cheese, sauces, honey, and even seafood. It also features live music played by local artists, making it a great place to spend your Sunday.
Eating healthy food is an important part of living a happy life. By visiting any of these farmers markets you’ll not only get fresh food, but also experience a relaxing weekend afternoon.
