2023 Miami Grand Recap: Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso Takes 3rd Place
Formula 1 racing is one of the most existing auto spectacles around the world. The highest plateau of international auto racing, known as Grand Prix, spectators gather from far and around to witness these events. The speed, drivers, courses, and vehicles are something fans eagerly discuss.
This year’s 2023 Miami Grand Prix was no exception. Not to mention, Aston Martin’s F1 drivers participated. The Asturian-born Spanish driver Fernando Alonso and his Canadian-Belgian partner Lance Stroll were among the competing participants. At Aston Martin Palm Beach, we’re here to spotlight how the 2023 Miami Grand Prix transpired and the results.
What Happened During the 2023 Miami Grand Prix?
With over 270,000 attendees and 57 laps, the 2023 Miami Grand Prix is an event that many F1 fans look forward to. Aston Martin is one of many participants in this F1 race alongside Red Bull, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, AlphaTauri, Williams, and Aston Martin. So what were some of the more important highlights of this Grand Prix?
Early in the first segment, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Benz) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) came close to an “impending incident,” however they managed to continue the race. As the race was underway, each of the racers turned their turns to get ahead of one another. The goal being speed and reflexes in these structured courses.
In one of the more enjoyable moments, midway through the race, Fernando Alonso complimented his fellow Aston Martin colleague Lance Stroll going past Alexander Albon (Williams-Mercedes) with the phrase, “Great move into Turn 1.” Commentators speculated that Mr. Alonso had caught the move via TV mid-race.
During the first quarter, Alonso’s partner, Lance Stroll was eliminated from the competition. As a result, he finished 12th in the Grand Prix results. In contrast, Alonso managed to showcase the competitiveness of Formula 1 racing.
Alonso would manage to reach the second grid position, ending up in third place, gaining his fourth podium in 2023. In his first year with Aston Martin, he managed to gain third place at the Bahrain Grand Prix, third at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, fourth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and now a great performance in Miami.
